Stompbox Storage

This is a typewriter case purchased at a tag sale for $0.75. It's made of strong, impact resistant plastic and is deep enough to store 1590BB stompboxes on their side. The yellow foam is pulled from an outdoor chair cushion that I was about to toss (its partially discolored from being outside). By chance it fit inside the case perfectly, with no trimming. The black foam is great stuff. It's sold as replacement foam for telescope eyepiece cases and is perforated so that you easily create compartments of almost any shape. It can be had from Orion Telescopes & Binoculars for $13.50 (telescope.com part # 5979).

So, if you find on old high-density plastic case and can get your hands on some foam, you can easily make a low-cost stompbox case that can hold nine or ten effects. Other foam, such as "Speaker Enclosure Foam" from MCM Electronics (50-1455 for $6.69) would, with some trimming, also work for the top foam. I used regular rubber cement to hold the yellow foam in place. The cubed foam is secured by pressure alone. Rubber cement may also be used to reconnect cubes of foam if you want to alter its storage configuration.

Be kind to those stompboxes!
