Title: momentary dpdt to latching (millenium?) true bypass switch
Post by: Renegadrian on November 29, 2016, 06:53:36 AM
I bought some momentary dpdts in error, no way to send back (or, yes I could but I would pay almost the same value for the shipping) - hope to find a good use for them and tried to read something already but it's a new story to me - someone so keen to guide me in trasforming a momentary dpdt in a latching type, maybe millenium so I can haz a regular on/off led?!

I read something about cmos or better 555 to be used in the process...

Check out Jfet switching (http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/bosstech.pdf) by RG. If you want true bypass, you could use it to control a relay.

No way to transform physically without spending way more time and money than you have already invested.

You could try getting some standard relays and using this circuit to actuate them.

If the startup state isn't critical, you can elimnate the 10k, 10uF and 1n914 to the left.

I've used a variation of this circuit many times with success.

For LED you can place one in parallel with the relay (load). Make sure to use a current limiting resistor in series with the LED.

Archived those switches for a couple of months, I think I will build Paul circuit (https://web.archive.org/web/20160412214146/http://www.paulinthelab.com/2013/04/soft-latch-true-bypass-relay-switch-for.html), gonna get some relays...
