Title: Diode question. difference between 1n34 and 1n34A ?
Post by: BDuguay on May 25, 2004, 09:56:05 AM
Is there a difference between these 2 diodes. The 1n34A is needed in the Fuzz Central version of the Dallas Rangemaster that I'm planning to build.

http://store.americanmicrosemiconductor.com/diodes-germanium-and-selenium-diodes-germanium-diodes.html

has the data sheets for both of these, seems to be no significant difference that I can see in a quick look.

different package, and some current ratings are different, but probably nothing that would affect its use in a pedal.

For the RangeBlaster you can use just about any Germanium diode...1N100, 1N270, 1N34, 1N34A, etc.  Just as long as it's Ge. it should work fine :)  1N34A is one of the more common values, so I listed that one on the schematic.
