Title: Analog/digital ground question
Post by: DaveTV on September 03, 2003, 09:35:51 PM
I'm planning on building Scott Swartz' PT-80 digital delay, and I noticed the analog and digital ground symbols on the schematic. This is my first digital pedal, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to wire these two ground types.

You keep the digital ground stuff separate from the analogue ground stuff and then connect the two gounds together at one point.  Think of the two ground systems as islands which meet at one point.  The last thing you want is the analog ground connections interwoven with the digital ground connections.

And you would want to keep the analog and digital + upplies separate a well, and connect right at the regulator (or whtevre the power source is).
The idea is to have no power or ground currents flowing in common traces.
