I am having the same problem with ic builds, i don't know what it is, they just don't work for me, i have tried about 10 in the past month, with nothing to come out of it with.
Check out the debugging page from the main forum. An IC build is very repeatable and fairly easy to debug. Just check the voltages and ground the IC, that's about it for biasing. Next, just audio probe the input and outputs.
OK, I found this real easy opamp build, so i breadboarded it and it works, wOOt!!
