Post by: davepedals on March 24, 2011, 03:10:37 AM

  Fuzzcentral's is worth a look, it bumps up the 330 value and puts a HF taming capacitor across it.

   The gains of the transistors matters.
 ''8k2'' doesn't adjust.
   Q2C resistor should be adjusted so the circuit bias is 'correct' [by ear.
   5k6 through 15k6 is a good range for most Si transistors, and doesn't tend to gate-out at either end of the trimpot or knob rotation.
  A 5k6 > 10k pot in place of ''8k2''.
  Could be 20k trimpot or panel pot.
  Makes it possible to sweep the DC bias and try settings by ear, or by adjusting to various idle-voltages on Q2C and trying possible bias's out for a while.
  Another thing to do when choosing transistors and such is to use the guitar volume if you want to find the 'cleans up at guitar volume' = gain adjustment.

I just built this one recently;

(http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/axisface/axisfacesi3schematic.gif)

Flexible insofar that it will accept a variety of trannies, with the 10K trimmer allowing to bias. I'm running mine with 2N3904 in Q1, and 2N5088 in Q2. I like a bit more fur on my fuzz.

Cheers,
Dino

I almost forgot, I recorded a clip the other day, here's the link;

The first 1:00 is the Axis Face, starting with clean, minimum fuzz, medium fuzz, and max fuzz. I built the circuit into a Skyripper, and the rest of the clip is with the Omega booster, and yhen Ripper engaged, so you can ignore the rest from 1:00 on if you wish.
