Title: Center tapped potentiometers
Post by: armdnrdy on May 12, 2012, 01:46:13 PM
Does anyone on this site have a lead to a source for 50% center tapped potentiometers? I've looked around the net and different manufacturer's data sheets but I'm drawing a blank exept for custom orders or roll your own.

I've opened a 16mm Alpha pot to see how it could be manipulated and have found that the resistive material is a bit too close to the outer edge of the wafer to attach anything with a lasting bond.

I saw a post here by Dan N with a tutorial on using a rivet to make the attachment but the link is dead.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Larry

Maybe connect the two parts of a stereo pot in series and use the point where you connect them as 50% tap? Behaviour would not be the same as a 50% tap, but -depending upon your application - this might work for you?

I recently bought some dual 100K w/center tap off Ebay. I hope this link is still good;

Hope it helps.
