dual buffer in a 1590A

google is coming up short so im coming to you guys.

I want to build a 2 in 2 out buffer for the end of my effects chain (stereo delays and reverb)

easy right?

wellll i have a spare 1590A and would love to fit it in there.

does anyone have any experience building an Always On, 2IN 2OUT, nothing fancy buffer in a 1590A.

optionally i would love to do it on vero if anyone has a layout for it since i have a few extra boards laying around as well.

has no one built a dual buffer in a 1590A??

for reference JHS and T1M have done it...so i know its not impossible...just looking for tips or advice or even a layout for one.

Of course it's possible, as long as you can confidently drill and fit four 1/4" jack sockets and a dc socket along with the pcb. A dual opamp would easily do the two stereo sides: if you want an actual layout, or even to buy a pcb, search the other place for "multipurpose buffer pcbs" for a thread with schematic, layout, and a link to a page where user coldcraft was (and probably still is) offering boards for sale.

The circuit is pretty simple, so a vero should be quite easy to do and keep small enough.

so if i were to take say a TL072 i could run Left to Input 1 and Right to Input 2 and it would process them both separately without phasing issues?

so i would basically copy a buffer circuit and give each side its own resistors and caps but they can share the same dual op-amp and 9v?

how would the different components (resistors and caps) affect the sound since its using the same op amp?

That's entirely subjective and depends on how confident one is drilling holes for four 1/4" jack sockets, a DC jack socket (and maybe a hole for an LED to show the buffer is receiving power) and knowing there will be sufficient clearance so nothing shorts and that the board will also go in. I personally would go for a bigger box, not so much because of the size restriction, but more because the jacks will have to be very close together and might make using right angle patch cables difficult - That may not be a consideration however.

There's not a great deal of difference between the Klon buffer and the other one: Klon uses a 100k/100k divider with a 1M to supply vref instead of a 2 x 2M2 pair directly connected, which might reduced the noise a little(?), and it also has a pull down resistor on the output. Both are supposedly totally clean buffers so should have zero affect on the sound, apart from perhaps a perceived brightening/sparkly sound due to reducing the high treble loss caused by long cables.

Didn't see this thread before making my own, uses more components, but works well.
Made if for my own breadboarding, so that I have a input and output buffer on hand.
