Hi guys, been going through my pedals and tweaking and decided i need a volume lift on my chorus....

would i be right in thinking the 33k on pin 6+7  IC1b would be an ideal candidate to change?....22k?..10k?...

or ?...i  have a volume pot on the output so any amount of volume boost will be controllable.

cheers guys. 8)

Hi Rob, I built the tonepad small stone and had to change R11 and R42 to 10k to get the volume to come up. There's a lot of comments on it in the build reports there.

If I'm reading well that last op-amp stage, it seems that it has a negative gain of -5dB. You should maybe try to reduce that attenuation by lowering the input resistor of that stage (10k right before the 33k you mention).

Try this (not sure if it works, but nothing bad is gonna happen):

1. Remove the 10k resistor.
2. Replace it with a 4k7 resistor for a 6dB boost (de-attenuation) or with 6k8 for 3dB.
3. Anything in between might be useful too. Experiment.

;)

A long way is the sum of small steps.

I tried the mod with my own SC and with the 10k resistor the levels are almost the same (or even a little louder with the FX on). I use a permanent buffer at the very beggining of the signal chain, maybe that's why the difference.

@pakrat:  cheers, but they are not numbered on the pdf schematic?...which ones?

@labaris: did you get a very noticable jump in volume then?.

I've toggled this problem recently.

For IC1B:
Replaced the 33k resistor with a 50k pot.
And jumpered the 10k resistor.

I also had trouble with tone-problems, so I jumpered the 0.01 ยต caps both at ic1A and ic1B as well.

Very happy with it.

cheers dave, so did you get louder than unity then?..

like this you mean?..

I think the way to go is to lower the value of the 10k resistor.
For getting more gain out of the op amp you should rise the TOTAL value of the feedback loop resistance. And that's gonna be hard to achieve without changing both resistors, because they're in parallel.
The problem is that if you change both resistors you're gonna change the filter too. The net with the small resistor end the cap has something to do with frequency and tone. So, you could end fixing a problem by creating another...

If you lower the value of the 10k resistor you WILL have a boost. I tried it already and it works.  ;)

update:  took that 10k out, much , much better,

i know have a volume control that goes much louder than unity...brilliant!.

unity is at 3oclock on the added vol  pot now.. 8)

cheers guys. ;)
