Traco Power DC-DC converters (9v to +/-15v) - anyone used them?

Has anyone used these?

I'm specifically looking at the 1223 as a way to get +/-15v from a standard 9v power source.

I would assume that the main thing keeping them from getting more attention in the DIY audio world is the cost ($18 each on the site above), but I wanted to see if anyone had used them with any success. They're pretty compact for what they do. I don't see anything in the datasheet that would indicate to me that they wouldn't work but thought I'd see if anyone else had any wisdom to offer on this.

Also - it seems like it's a self-contained module that doesn't require any supporting circuitry, but they do mention using a capacitor and inductor in the application notes to meet EN55022 Class B requirements. Is this in any way helpful in our world, or is it unnecessary?

i have one in a rack preamp of mine, its been used to power an opamp for a loop in the output, what can i say,its the smartest solution if you already have a regulated dc voltage and need the maximum headroom for that application
you just need a couple of 100 ohm resistors in series and 2 electrolytics to ground ,no big deal.
if you have ac voltage its much more affordable to make a voltage doubler and regulate with 7815/7915

Do you have a schematic or anything for reference? I couldn't find any application notes besides the EN55022 stuff.

This model has a higher current output.....and a higher price!  ;D

Here's the application notes:

I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

I've used a Murata DC/DC converter to get +/-15V from a 9VDC wall wart.

Worked out well, and looks similar to the Traco ones you're looking at.
I found the PSU schematic in Boscorelli's Stompboxology.
Here's how I implemented it...

Wow, less than half the price (NKA0515SC). I like it. I'd need to regulate down to 5v, but it's probably safer anyway than running the Traco off of a wall wart. Thanks for that!

Wow, less than half the price...

... and half the current, too.

Don't know your application, so maybe that's okay. ;)

Yep, it'll be fine for what I need. I think the circuit sucks less than 10 mA.

It's a commodity product, available from several suppliers.

I have used a pair of isolated 5V:+/-18V converters, stacked, from a 6V battery, to make >80V for a teeny tube amp.

It works. My construction was awkward and I never moved past the testing. The modules do sag a bit. Mine were un-regulated (tubes aren't fussy) and the sag was like 20% at full rated load.

Mine "needed" output caps (and an input cap would be very wise around sensitive audio).
