This is my second tonepad tubescreamer.  I wanted more base so I increased the .047uf cap between Vb and the tone stack to .47 and changed the resistor from 4k7 to 2k2.

The tubescreamer doesn't scream at all.  I get a slight DECREASE in volume when I kick it in.  Did my mod do that or did I screw something else up?

I'm using a generic 4558 from Tayda.  I haven't measured voltages at pin but the V+ and Vb are good - 9V & 4.5V.

As always, thanks a heap!

It would be a whole lot better if you went to the "debugg  what to do when it doesnt work thread and report back with more info please.

D'OH....I found some bad solder joints, fixed those and replaced the out of spec parts I was using to try and get more bass. STILL at unity gain.

I won't report back until I have ALL the information required to debug.
