just bin'd a maestro rhythm and sound for 250.00 shipped!!!!

the guy said everything works but the octave down fuzz, so i'm gonna restore it hopefully.

will post guts etc when it arrives, i don't know if it's a candidate for reverse engineering a diy version, but if it's possible, you know it's
gonna happen.

A lot of that era of Maestro stuff is totally discrete. I have a Maestro Rhythm King MkI and I'm pretty sure there's not a single IC in the thing. Not only can the circuits likely be copied without rare parts substitutions - I think that they'd be smaller in today's components

i bought the svc manual last nite, too.. big mistake, as i already had the schematic, and the manual didnt really have much else that's useful.

no ic's in it at all. and i am pretty sure i already know what the problem is, there's a post between mark hammer and cj landry describing the exact problem this one has, and the fix.
so i'm figuring all new electros, clean it well, and it should be good to go.

I repaired one of these once.  Look at the switches first.  I remember them to be a weak point.

thanks for the advice. they say only the bass part doesn't work and the rest works but is "noisy".
gonna start with a cap job. and hope for the best.

i always found maestro switches to be a pain in the ass..many a phaser with them kinda switches i've seen where they stopped working...switch contacts.

it's in real good shape, of course i fired it up to see what it was about. the percussion stuff all works, the tone filters too tho there's no modulation on them, if there's supposed to be.
the synth bass/synth bass fuzz do not work.

i think this may be a later version, so may have to dig to find the proper servicing info.. but it's pretty close to pristine!

just bought the service manual, waiting for it to arrive. this is the earlier version, the g1, that schematic is for the more complex g2.

but it's cool, and i look forward to fixing it and probably passing it on. i bet ya that octave down i posted the other day is gonna end up being really similar.

i HAVE the service manual, it looks like it's gonna be cake i hope. bet it's bad caps.
everything but the fuzzbass seems to work.
i will of COURSE scan and post the schematics for the community, i mean, goddamn it, i bought the suckers so i guess i can share 'em. it's not like the guys who SOLD them to me OWN the rights to them!!
