Slow Gear clone strange behaviour

Hello,

After a few minutes searching previous posts, I decided to post a question.

I built the Slow Gear clone from aron Nelson's layout: http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/cathexis/Veroboard+Layouts/Slow+Gear/
Used all the specific parts, even found the 2SK30 FET (twisted gate and source, of course).
It "seems" to work but I'm not sure about it's behaviour when the sound finally drops in volume.

It kind of distorts slightly when the note decays then the gate closes with a "brrth". I tested with guitar, transistor organ and synth and any change on the Bias trimmer or the Sensitivity didn't help much on that.
Also the attack is fairly short although I put a 3.3 uf cap parallel to the 0.47 uf. I don't know if this is normal...

Does anyone have experiences on the build? Is the layout verified?
What's the matter with the distortion?

Thanks for answering!
Regards, Alex

The layout is verified, but the effect can be somewhat disappointing - I think there are quite a few of us with an un-boxed Slow Gear circuits sitting in dusty corners.
I'm a refugee of the great dropbox purge of '17.
Project details (schematics, layouts, etc) are slowly being added here: http://samdump.wordpress.com

I've read that. Too bad.
If it's really that poor, I might be opting for the Paia Gator, it seems a bit more flexible and easier to built.

I built one I was very happy with. It's just a finnicky circuit.
