Hi
I'm new to this Forum.

Could somebody assist me in how to interpret the test results when using the "Germanium Transistor Testing for FF" circuit from RG's
Geofex article?

http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/fuzzface/fffram.htm

How do I ascertain leakage  in micro-amps and the gain as in the real gain taking the leakage reading into account as HFE  or forward current gain from the results

eg: I do the first test for leakage and the result is 0.25vdc
I press the momentary switch and the result is 1.25vdc

I'm assuming the gain is 125 hfe from the above but how do you calculate at the leakage in Ua and true gain by taking into account the leakage reading?

induction

For leakage, you scale your leakage gain measurement by 2.472 V/mA. In your case: leakage = 0.25(V)/2.472(V/mA) = 0.1011 mA = 101 uA.

For gain, you subtract the leakage gain measurement from the total gain measurement and multiply by 100: (1.25 - 0.25)*100 = 100.

Thank your help. I did find the original text a little bit "confuzzing"

I found that Small Bear's interpretation of R.G.'s germanium testing procedure to be a little less confusing, and achieves the same results.  See it on his web page.
