Hi, I am sure that many many people have asked the question. But can anyone give me brands of paint that you know works well for swirling finish. I am in France so US stuff won't work for me as they are pretty expensive to ship. So I am looking for either a French/European website or a store on eBay that ships or a low price.
Cheers

That's cool but the cheapest I find to france is 4€ ~5$ but with a 10€  shipping fee :( it's a potty that everything sent from the uk costs a fortune

That brand is sold at most craft stores and general stores. I suppose you don't have a Wallmart equivalent.

But any art supply store will have acrylic paint. It's water based. You use a bit of water to thin it out to pour over a pedal. Just look for acrylic. I would hope France has quite a bit of art supplies around.

It also depends on the type of swirl painting you want to do. If you use the dip method as shown in the thread below, then you would use an enamel oil based model paint.

Yes that's what I was looking for. The dip method looks cleaner. Well when I get the pay check I ll try it out

If you want magic marble swirl paint (it´s the best dip colour), check out

6 colours 20ml for 10 Euro, "Set Grundfarben" is normal paint (white, yellow, red, blue, green, black).
Metallic is also cool.
They have some videos to show...
For a guitar you will need 40-60ml, for boxes ca 5ml

Just checked your website, Will. Nice blog and pedals!  Looking forward to seeing your swirlies on there!

my sister "does craft", and has drawers full of that folk art stuff (I don't even know what some of it is), I have some boxes to be painted soonish, looks like I'm needing to learn a new method.

Hi, Thanks Jdansti, some people have said that it was a useless effort, I recon it's pretty useful anyway thanks.

Maik, I'll check that since it is pretty affordable. I will be painting pedals, so only small quantities will be needed.

Duck's bottom, if you get any results from folk art, do post them here, even bad looking stuff :)
