Hum free panner using transformers and vca's?

It's been awhile since I visited here, :icon_cry:
But I was wanting to make a mono panner out of a wah pedal.
For panning between 2 x DIY 18 watt amps.
Yeah hum is an issue(found out).
I found RG's panning for fun guide, but he states that would still leave hum.
So I was thinking why not use the 10kll10k isolation transformers to get rid of the hum, like in the "hum free a/b/y box" (also from RG)
Just use one on each output, then I would have an active volume pedal when only using one side or a panner when using both outputs.
Then I thought wouldn't it work with just one output isolated with a transformer?
Does this sound right or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

You would only need one transformer.  You could put it in its own box and spare yourself some hassle.  Then you could put it anywhere in the chain after the split. .  Or tie wrap it into the back of amp#2 , plug into it and forget it.

Thanks for the feedback Blackie.
That's what I was thinking, one isolated output would break the ground loop between amps.
I just need to build the panning pedal now,I can use the one transformer I have.
I guess the hum free A/B/Y box needed two for the Y output to be hum free, thinking about it some more.
