i build a rebote delay with a grind customs modulation boardhttp://www.grindcustomsfx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=391. i connected the L1 and L2 pads to the 1 and 3 lugs on my time pot. i only get a chorus sound with no percussive delay or echo.

what am i doing wrong?

I think the LDR from the LFO is supposed to be in series with the time pot, not in parallel. See this guy, which works well

Different means of variable resistance for the LFO control of pin6, but series. Can somebody back me up on this? Try it.  Won't hurt.  And the 1k in there is so you never go below 1k to ground from pin6 which locks up the chip apparently.  You don need that if your LDR/vactrol doesn't go below 1k.

Where do you think I should hook up L1 and L2? I lifted the right side of the 33k above IC2 which is part of the delayed signal right before going into the last opamp. I thought maybe that would've worked but the modulation was really faint.

What you did might get you tremolo or something, but what you want is pitch modulation/ chorus. That LFO circuit is meant to manipulate pin 6 of the delay chip. Parallel to the time pot is what they told you? Is this LFO particularly for a pt 2399 delay modulation?  May e it's just a tremolo, to be implemented just like the tremulous lune, which you could add to this delay.
But I'm not sure how this particular pitch modulation one is done.  How about looking up some pt2399 schematics?  I don't remember seeing one with a vactrol/LDR.
Little help here, y'all.

EDIT: oops, so much for reading comprehension.

Here's an update: I disconnected the L1 and L2 pads from the delay time pot and the delay works normally. Now where to add the modulation...?

deadastronaut

is the add-on mod board actually working as it should?....

is the vactrol on backwards...flipped?...(ive always made my own so  unaware of any obvious markings etc)

It's meant for their profundis delay http://www.grindcustomsfx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=100 but the mod board says it should work with any pt2399 delay. Looking at the schematic, the only thing that's different on pin 6 between the rebote and profundis, is a 2k2 resistor.

I'm using an ldr/led combo instead of a vactrol. It's oriented correctly as the ldr has no polarity, right? I can see the led through the shrink tubing and it flashes fast and slow with the rate pot

On your rebote you should have two wires going to the delay time pot. Disconnect one of them, doesn't matter which, connect one side of the LDR to the wire you just disconnected and connected the other side to the lug of the pot that the wire was going to. That puts the LDR in series with the pot so as the resistance changes it changes the delay time the same as if you grabbed the pot and twisted it back and forth.

i went ahead and did that and the time works great! i guess this mod board isnt what i thought it was gonna be like. should i just move onto a multiplex jr or what?

I'd just build an Echo Base but I'm contractually obliged to say that ;)
Does the modulation work now then?

haha! ive been thinking about building the echobase but whenever i go to the site, my A/V prompts me there are trojans on the site.

yes the modulation works but im not sure if its exactly how it should be working and its not exactly how i thought it was going to sound compared to the videos ive seen with this modulation board
