How hard would it be to build up some knobs?
:icon_biggrin:
I'm wanting to get a bunch of those orange / matamp style knobs made because most places are charging anywhere between $5-15 a damn knob!

I can't think of anything funny just yet.

...then take the first one back for a refund, of course!

Have you contacted Matamp directly? All my friends who've had dealings with them say they're a friendly helpful bunch.
Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.

not  3D, but interesting enough...

Boss iPhone anyone?  :icon_biggrin:

My older son joined a local municipal hackerspace earlier this year.  His membership fee gets him access to a 3-D printer and a laser cutter, in addition to a reasonably well-equipped electronics bench.  Perhaps there is something like that in your area?

Do note that to produce such knobs, you would either have to find a file for something like that on Thingiverse (or comparable upload site), or arrange to have it 3-D scanned.  Can't print the object out unless you have a scan-file.

maybe you should contact user: haveyouseenhim

he used 3d cheeseknobs on his build here:

I'm sorry sir, we only have the regular ohms.

There was a guy recently in the For Sale section offering custom made knobs.

And there was this guy JohnForeman posted not long ago

Like Mark said you will need a file to print from , scanning an object is one way to do it. But when you scan you get a lot of extra data and most the time the model needs cleaning up before printing. I remember using the STL format and the model had to be water tight. Something like a knob would probably be easier and faster to just build in a 3d program.

That Roland UV printer looks sorta neat. I have some of that UV curable paint and its really tuff stuff once its cured.

thanks for all the replies!

a) I can build the knob in a CAD file
b) Matamp charges insane prices for the knobs!

Why are these knobs so damn expensive?
