Built a tone bender mk1.
I wired the 3pdt switch using tonepads offboard wiring diagram.
Everything works but when bypassed, the volume pot still controls volume.
I'm unable to get a picture of it right now, phone's messed up.

Any ideas?

My idea is that you think you followed the tonepad diagram, but actually didn't.

Given that the lugs on a 3PDT are in a 3 x 3 matrix, perhaps you followed the diagram...only rotated 90 degrees.

(If you posted any pics, my work-filters block them, so if  my suggestion is foolish or otherwise unsupported, please ignore.)

pretty sure the switch is the right way.
lug holes are vertical.

Mark Hammer

Well, however you've wired it, the volume pot should not be connected to the output in any way when in bypass mode.

Tonepad has many offboard wiring diagrams, so we can't know which one you used unless you give us a link or a picture.

If the lugs are oriented similar to the first diagram in the link, then your switch is rotated 90 degrees. They should look more like diagram #5.

Compare yours to this picture. The lugs should go this way:

yeah, the lugs are going correct.
I had a 3pdt switch so I went with diagram 5 on tonepad.
probably should've got a dpdt switch since i'm not using an led or dc jack.

i'm stumped. I might just get new switch and rewire.

DPDT and 3PDT are the same thing, but the 3PDT has an extra row of poles. Pictures would be very helpful, when you can.
