Effect switch pops

I made some nice effects that sound great, but switching some of them creates a big pop. I tried a million things, pulldown resistors. caps. Relays. Nothing seems to help. So it's not just one effect but several. I use true bypass switching and some effects switch silent and some with a loud pop. It's making me crazy and I would do a lot to get rid of that problem.

Can anyone tell me what to do or where to look for a solution for this?

Hi,

Maybe it's not the pedals but the amp you are plugging it into. If you have a multimeter check if you can measure DC voltage at the input of your amp.

Switching pops are nearly always the result of a DC voltage getting to the input or output being switched.

Take your voltmeter and look for a DC level on the output of your effects at the board, in both bypass and engaged positions. Also the amp, as noted.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
