I've built a red ranger using tonepad's schematic and a layout of my own design. There is no effect signal at output so I traced it from the input. There is signal at q1 base then at the q1 emmiter/r4/q2 emmiter but nothing past those points. Can someone tell me where I should expect the signal to travel? I have checked power and grounds and they look to be in order.

Just look at the schematic and go backwards from the output. Anyway, the signal should appear on Q1's collector, Q3's collector, and across C6. Well, it should also appear at the tone section (R7, C3, C4, R8, R9, R10) depending on the tone switch position.

Did you use a PNP transistor for Q3 (the 2n5087 I assume) and did you make sure to connect the emitter to the positive supply rail (through R5) and the collector to C2, C6, and so on?

Thanks. Q3 checks out. I'lll double check all the other components
