Built in Feedback Loop

I made the Aeon Overdrive from guitarpcb and it turned out great, but I wanted to add a feedback looper built in. I tried this by connecting the input and output to a spst footswitch (which I plan on changing to a dpdt to add an led), and in between the output and the switch is a 500k log pot. It sort of works but drops the level when activated and only works is volume or tone knob is all the way up. I was wondering if anyone knew another way to achieve something like on the fuzzrocious pedals.

I use to work at a guitarstore and we always used our special noise cable after opening hours..

if you use a mono to 2x mono jack and put one mono in the output the other to amp and one back in to the pedal.

just simulate this with a switch.. although not every pedal will work equally great with feedback looping ;)

i think the main difference is that you in your example dont cut off the existing input source and we'd use this cable with just the sound of the unit and not any input.
