Hi there.

Customer of mine wants me to build a fuzz face and put it in his guitar underneath the pickguard. So he can use it with his wireless system.

But.. it has to be a ac128 so it's PNP. Can this be done? A positive ground circuit in a guitar without issues ?

And i got asked how long a 9v battery will last with a pnp germanium fuzz face....

Thnx

The easy answer is : use two batteries.

Keep on soldering!
And don t burn fingers!

No problem with a positive ground circuit inside a guitar.  On battery life, I've measured positive ground PNP Ge fuzz faces drawing around 1 mA without an LED, so a typical 9V alkaline rated for 350 to 400 mA hours should run for that many hours @ 1 mA drain.  You probably want a way to disconnect the battery when it's not needed, otherwise that will be clock hours vs. playing hours...
