hey all

hope you are all well.

i recently bought a boss rc3 pedal.

i bought a momentary foot switch from tayda online - looks like the switch is normally open (NO) and is not working properly. it works fine with my boss rc1.

does anyone know if these foot switches with three pins per side are NO+NC?

theres also this one, but looks like shitty quality

can anyone make a recommendation on one they have used successfully with the rc3? im looking for something soft on the foot - not hard to press

cheers, ulysses

Hi Ulysses,
I modified my RC-2 and I guess the switches should be the same. There's a thread on that subject on a german forum here.
The gist of it:
I used this switch: APEM 1212, with this cover, but I think this one here would also do:
Carling P26L-1D-RND-MTL if it's easier for you to come by.
This is how it looks after the operation:

However, the member Thhherapy of before mentioned german forum suggested some kind of electronic "reverse circuit" to change a switch from NO to NC, which seems to be a great idea and might come in handy on several occasions, but admittedly I didn't try it yet:

Good luck!

hey lars-musik

thanks for that reply! yeah i had thought about using a fet to convert the switch ;) unfortunately has to use a 9v supply which i would rather avoid ;)

i like the idea to place the switch in the pedal. im keen to repurpose a cool mini wedge enclosure i have that was originally a marshall tremolo remote foot switch.

P26L-1D-RND MTL looks good but shipping to aus is $35 ;)

cheers! ;)

If it is a momentary double-throw (e.g. DPDT) switch (with 3 lugs) then one side will almost certainly be NC and the other NO.
The second page of this thread might help: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=105884.20
I'm a refugee of the great dropbox purge of '17.
Project details (schematics, layouts, etc) are slowly being added here: http://samdump.wordpress.com

thx for the replies guys

im not keen on any 'clicky' ones

these ones look ok http://www.banzaimusic.com/Momentary-Soft-Touch-SPST-NC.html

10 € shipped - might see if i can find them cheaper on ebay

this actually looks exactly like the one i have that is "NO"

has anyone opened up one of these switches, seen if it can be converted from NO to NC. i would be surprised if they had two different moulds for the two, might just be an assembly procedure.

cheers
