The little "home colonoscopy kit" arrived yesterday. :D Works really well. This is going to be super handy for QC and troubleshooting...

^That improvised via shared with a resistor hole is a 'single' strand of 24 gauge wire (notwithstanding the surplus flux). And the glossy shine below is the enamel solder mask...

This is also my very first try at a double-sided PCB. So far so good...

It's a 1:3 buffer/splitter with polarity switches for each output and a rotary input impedance selector. I'll share out the project in its own thread once verified.

Great, be sure to give us the tour once you get it up and running. I didn't use the software the came with the cam yet, I used VLC since I was already familiar with it.

got it...pretty cool too..

these are close-ish ups..

but i can have it about 1-2 foot away from my pcb and clearly see/work on it...

^That looks great. I used mine to inspect/QC review a build the other day and it worked out great. New tool in the tool chest for sure.

Hey Rob,

I thought I saw the face of Jesus on your solder pad.

I contacted the Catholic diocese of London....they told me that thousands of pilgrims are on their way to your house!  :icon_wink:
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

;D  i'll put the kettle on and get the biscuits out  then..

Careful, the Baptists may show up too!  Could become a world event.

I had purchased a little jewler's eyepiece/monocle.  This looks like way more fun.  Have you guys seen advantages to the smaller pencil type or the larger (LED lit) versions?

I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad

The tiny one i have has led lighing as well but but it's area of coverage is equally small so i just go with the room task lighting.

My pencil version has LED lights, the only issue is glare (part of the territory with shiny solder and copper) but it is adjustable brightness which fixes most of that. I still though may build something to diffuse it more. One point is that with high magnification the reduced aperture suddenly requires the LEDs at full power where when further back turned off or 10% illumination is fine. Otherwise it has been really handy to be able to plop down boards etc and inspect. Pictures always better than words...

QC in action.. A bridged run between IC pins I'd likely have missed if not careful.

I cut it under the scope as well but couldn't get VLC to record as video:

Just interested in how far I could go.... .012 trace, pre-etch with green TRF film over the toner to prevent etchant from soaking in. The stuff on left/right is shiny copper (It was a pcb printing/testing weekend)...
