Hi, I received a mystery pedal from my brother. He built it, claims it worked, until one day it didn't.

He's pretty meticulous as you can see from the pictures below. I'd like to try and fix it. I desoldered and flowed the joints a few times - the led comes on, but no sound. I need the schematic for this so I can double check everything, but I don't know what it is or how to get a diagram. Could it be a blues breaker clone? I think I remember him mentioning something like that.

Could be any fault. Anywhere.
Having said that I note that the pot marked 8G2 is touching the enclosure could just be a short there?
Have you compared the Blues breaker schematic to see if it has a dual/single IC? What IC is it?
What are the pots marked?
Have you taken any voltages from the IC? Power supply?

So many questions its difficult to know where to start.
Someones bound to recognise it since its an RG Keen board surely.

I'm not crazy about how the unprotected trace side just sits in the enclosure. All kinds of shorts just waiting to happen.  :icon_rolleyes:

I believe it's a blues breaker clone, but updated after I last touched it. I licensed the layout to... someone. I'll have to go look. But it's most probably a blues breaker clone. I could verify that from my archives if I had good, straight-on photos of top and bottom sides.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
