Hi guys, im new to the fourm I've built a few pedals before and i had a few question about my zvex super hard on im trying to clone. i haven't found any schematics that match what the original has. I've made out that one diode is a 1n5817 i believe but can't make out what the other is. Ill attach some pics i took and see if you guys can help me out. Thanks! ;D

the 1n5817 is just polarity protection, "anything" like a 4001 etc will work. The other is any 9.1v zener. It is there for static protection.

So a 1N4739A should be fine? Thanks for the help!

This is probably pretty close:

I believe the original used a 12V zener, but yes, a 9.1V zener should work fine. That diode is there to protect the mosfet from voltage spikes. The mosfet will be damaged if the voltage between the gate and source exceeds 20V or so. In a 9V circuit, that can only happen if there is a spike caused by plugging or unplugging the input cable when powered up. The signal voltage will never get anywhere near 9V, so it shouldn't matter whether you use a 9.1V zener or a 12V zener.

Awesome! Then ill give it a go with a 1n5817 and a 9.1v or a 12v zener. Thanks for the helps guy!

I have one more question i almost forgot. Im currently living in argentina and i can't get a hold of a C5K rev pot. What would be a good alternative.

induction

5k linear is the next best option. The range will be the same. Only the sweep will be different.

Note: The schematic I linked to above shows the zener placement correctly, but the gain control is modified. Sorry for any confusion.

Or a 5k log wired back to front. :icon_biggrin:
Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

Smoke me a Kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.

Until that one time you forget the pot is wired backwards and your shit your pants from loudness.

HAHA. awesome thanks for all the help guys! ;D
