Anyone have a recommendation for an external bias, I hear 10k to replace the 8.2k. I really dig the one ramble FX uses but its not labled, and can find anything about it online. So should I use 10k or 20k, audio- linear or what? I'm interested in what results any of you may have had. Thanks.

Annnnd you're talking about what circuit?

Welcome to the DIY Fuzz Face forum.

You've got a Germanium Transistor? 10k Linear is fine. If you want to get broken sounds you can use a 25k or higher.
Better yet, get some Alligator Clips and try out a few different values.

And read this article: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/fuzzface/fffram.htm

If you really need an external bias pot, replace the 33k. It sets the bias for both transistors.

Here's how I did it with piggybacked Si transistors.

that's just about what I was thinking, only I didn't think of the 1k resistor on the third lug. I'm gona try it on a few different circuits. So I guess 25k linear will be my huckleberry. Thanks guys.
