A/B + single effect loop power

Hi all.

I'm fairly new to electronics so forgive me if this is a silly question - I'm building a single effect loop with a 3pdt switch, input jack, output jack, send and return. As far as I can tell, I would only need to include a power supply if I wanted an led indicator. If, for the sake of argument, I decided to forgo the led, is there any need for 9v power? Do I need to make any other changes to the wiring of the switch if I don't put the 9v in?

Thanks

Hayden

Welcome to the forum.
Have you a schematic we can see.or a link to a schematic.
Depending on the circuit you could leave out the +9v supply and led and use a dpdt switch.
depending ok

something like this

if you dont want the led leave out everything attached to the right hand bank on the switch ie no led or ground or +9v and resistor

as a foot note i think the resistor (clr) should be between the +9v and led anode not between led cathode and ground

how is the A/B relevant to the looper led ?

Yep, that would do the trick.... http://www.singlecoil.com/tb-strip/images/dia1.gif

To help decode this, in one position the top row is connected to the middle row and in the other position, the bottom row is connected to the middle row.  Ignore the third column if you forgo the LED.
