soldering wire to straight lugs?

I pre tin the wire and the lug and 'lean' it against the post when soldering so it doesn't move as the solder cools. I need it this way because I run heatshrink over it which solves more longevity problems IMHO than bending/wrapping etc. does.

This is a particularly good way to solder those little green 9mm pots from Tayda. The lugs are so close together and flex very easily. Even if you use heat shrink to insulate them, they could break after a few bends.

You can strip the wires back enough, then thread the wire through the small eyelet holes and solder them to the lug on the other side. That gives it some strain relief and doesn't allow them to bend at the lugs..  :icon_wink:
Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

These are the type that I was saying work best with a piece of vero. The legs are very soft.

I made this for the clear shaft... maybe too much trouble for most people to etch but if not then here ya go. You can use them for LED lit or standard..
