tant cap polarity ?

hello, how do I tell polarity on the tant caps since they have no +/- markings and the two leads/legs are the same length ? I thought they would either be marked with a polarity symbol or have a longer positive leg?  and, or, is, does  monolithic caps have polarity to them? what are they mainly used or designed for?

how do I use them if I cannot tell what end is what? I see them used all the time, all over the place in beginner stuff,  so there must be a easy method.

I have been trying to google articles, search you tube videos and forum search but cannot find anything anyplace.

thanks for any help

Your photos are of monolithic ceramic capacitors, not tantalum.

well that doesnt help at all since they have no markings on them other than the number value

for example my 2.2nF are just labeled 222

I cant zoom the camera in any closer..my iphone only zooms in so much , so you will have to take my word for it they have no marking on them at all.

so what you are essentially telling me is, everyone else get marked caps from tayda and all the ones I order go unmarked ? I have ordered these several times from tayda and ebay and only one time, on some 10uF from tayda, did they have a longer lead and a + sign

I guess I should email Jum and tell him they are sending me unmarked caps and I cant use them ?

I have two that are tants ..the other are mono

cozy, so mono has no polarity? my first time using them. trying to build myself a deep blue

but my 4.7 and 2.2 nF TANT caps should have a polarity marking on them or a longer lead ..I keep buying these and keep getting unmarked caps.

thanks for the help, but the Tants I have, not the monos as I have both in the order, have no markings on them nor a longer lead. my question was how do I find the polarity of them or should I email Jum and send them back ? I have ordered tant several times and keep getting unmarked caps.

the monos cam in the same order and i photographed both of them , sorry for the confusion. but I am curious about mono as well now with polarity

those 222 in the picture are 2.2nf tant caps. I am sorry for taking pics of both the mon and tant at same time, my apologies

they show a longer lead in sales picture

yes they are monolithic, NP non polarized...(i should have read the bag :P)

even the 222..(2.2n) otherwise it would/should be marked..

104 (100n)

saying that, i would just use a polarized electrolytic cap in place of the tant anyway...

looking at the link, seems they haven't sent you those advertised...hmmm
they messed up...

thanks guys . I must be ordering them wrong ..I could swear I keep trying to get tant caps but I must be making an ordering error each time even though this was the first time I bought some monos along with them for teh deep blue I am going to try to build myself

thanks DA

maybe I should start smoking weed again hahah  ;D

deadastronaut

its not you, its tayda...

the picture does indeed show tants....

probably both of us different times, the bag has a mono sku lol

next order I am going to get me 10 of each value both mono and tant ! stock up on them all once and for all even though I will never use them  unless it takes me 20 builds to get my deep blue working lol which is probably a reality knowing my luck ..I am still trying to make myself teh arcadiator ..I think I had some bad chips though..I have a 2.0 almost ready to be tested .

wish me luck on this one, I really been wanting a 8bit thingy for a long time now

Luck 8)

The Tants I've received from Tayda all have an egg shape, the positive leg is longer, and the positive is marked with a +. The smallest value they offer is 100nF.

The Monolithic ceramics I've received from them all look like the ones you pictured.

If you go to your Tayda account page, find your recent order and click "view order" then look down the column marked "SKU" and see if you can find A-416 as well as A-1607. Those are the numbers for the tants you wanted but did't get. Also look at the SKU numbers on the monos baggies that you did get and see if you actually ordered them or not.

I think I screwed the order. I dont need those right now anyways as long as I have all the monos I needed for the blue. I was trying to stock on some for future builds in 1590a's and was trying to save room with those 5x11 electros

I spent the money and ordered some minis from mouser today..I cant find all I need on mouser or they are out/dont carry a lot of stuff on the mini  sizes

you almost need a 2 week ordering course for electronics lol

I'll swap you for some Darlington thinker chips or Darlington transistors.:)

As DA says I'll leave this here and slink off......

hey, what tool is this guy using to make those small solder connections ? it looks like a hybrid of a pop rivet and some sort of instant solder connector.

want me some of these lol - they are using the same tools as claude was
