Hello

Built this over the weekend (breadboard only) . I am running it on 18v. I have used batteries, maxx1044 and two snark power supplies.

The tone is awesome. The down side that keeps me from building/boxing. It has a noise. I have eliminate power supply. Curious if anyone sees a possible source as I have not used this design before. Unfortunately, the sim doesn't show noise.

My guess is because it is unboxed and higher gain.

Looks high at the current I am running. So perhaps I should change to the 2N5089. .4 mA

Truly awesome build. Then you can add your diodes to gnd.

Jneely - can I ask - is your C1 in the right place? collector instead of emitter of Q1?

For this design yes.  You can pop over here half way down is the Cascode amp. https://www.ibiblio.org/kuphaldt/electricCircuits/Semi/SEMI_9.html
