My first etching

did my first etching a few days ago. this is my second build. its a byoc scrambler. very happy with the results

That looks truly excellent, I love the design and the detailing you achieve is excellent. I've done a few of these recently myself, but this is way better.

Did you do spraypaint as well, and then sanding? Or did you simply leave the black from the etching process?

i did a light wet sand with 3000 grit sand paper after the etch and then used a scotch brite pad. Then i spray painted with flat black and sanded that with 3000 grit and got the more stubborn
parts with 2000 and then lacquered it. It looks really good in person. It's hard to get a good pic of the depth of detail because its so damn shiny from the clear coat.

I used ferric chloride. I preheated the acid in a container on top of tin foil on top of my wife's tiny convection oven on the exhaust vents at 350 for a few minutes and then swooshed the enclosure around for 8 minutes. I put 4 coats of paint and 4 coats of lacquer. Although when it came to sanding I think I put too many coats of paint
