I picked up a couple of old Dukane  PA mixers today, primarily because the price was right ($20 each) and they're sturdy 1U rack chassis already machined for 10 pots.  So, prime real estate for something else when I have time.

The mic preamps have input transformers.  The mixer uses 741s ( :icon_eek: ).  But the interesting part is that the two mic preamps use an NE5533.  That's right.  NOT a 5534 or 5532 but a 5533.  It's  an externally-compensated 14-pin dual op-mp.  I was hoping it  might have the same pinout as a 4739, to accommodate all those Craig Anderton classics, but the pinout is simply incompatible with anything else I've ever seen.

Op-amp A -  pins 1, 2, and 12.  Op-amp B - pins 6, 7,and 10.

Weird, huh?  If you're aware of anything else with the same pinout, you're my hero.

Just checked and I have one of those 5533's, must have purchased in the 80's, as well found a couple 4136's in the same drawer.

Dead bug mounting. Put in what you like.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

LM747. Which is a dual 741 - so extra pins are offset not comp'. Still active but not in DIP.
OP04 same pinout - also internal comp'.

R.G. I never stop learning new things from you. Thanks! I didn't know dead bug was an official term, but quickly found this:

The only caveat I would add is that dead-bugging 14-pin chips is contra-indicated for use with 1590A enclosures!   :icon_lol: (I feel like I should have a long list of potential side-effects, like they do in those pharmaceutical commercials)

There once was a case with no clearance
a dead bug's legs caused interference
the engineer tread
to squash it instead
admiring the change in appearance.
