Balance pot value on mictester's Buzzaround-Alike

I noticed that the Buzzaround-Alike circuit uses a 25K balance pot, while the original Buzzaround used a 10K balance pot (as far as I can tell).  Does the new op-amp driven circuit topography demand the change in value, or will a 10K work just as well as in the original 3 transistor based design?

As far as I can tell, I think the higher Balance pot value would just increase the gain of the transistor. Further analysis would require a link to the original Bussaround circuit schematic.
