Hi there!
I don't know if this thread exist, anyways...
I was thinking in have a resume of which components are mostly used/repeated in any DIY guitar gear world.
Maybe it helps to anyone who whants to purchase in bulk, and don't wanna have a useless lot of caps/resistors/etc

Diodes
5mm Red LED's: OBLIGATORY  ;D
1N4148 / 1N914: great for clipping, cheap.
1N400X: some suggest 1n4001, I use 1n4007. Reverse polarity protection.
1N5817
1N60 (Germanium)
1N34a
BAT42

Any suggestion can be added  :)
To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.

I'd separately add 100nF ceramics (for PS bypass).

Ditch 2nF caps and get some 15nF instead. Similarly, ditch 51pF and get 150pF.

On the DIY fever list, 560K ranks up there. I have had a need for those upper-half values: 500k to 800k or so.
+1 on extra 100k, maybe 10k and 1M usage warrant extra numbers as well.
Good idea here.

Thanks bancika; great statistics.
With your permission, I add them to the list.

You're right blackieNYC!
1M it's a must be in any pedal to avoid switch poping.
Like the 1N400x and 47/100uF e.caps for power "insurance"  ;D

Thanks, very useful stuff. Would you consider adding common diodes and pots? I always seem to be needing a diode i don't have. And as for pots they seem to be the bane of my life when it comes to building. I'm yet to find a reliable source of all the values of right angle board mount pots (i like those best i think)

hyrk

Nice very good idea, I would have wanted to have that when I started making stuff.

Sure!
There's a few diodes that can be useful; I'll add the ones I always used.

For pots, I think they're more exclusive in each project... but: you always want a extra 100k, 500k or 50k pot there to experiment..

For PS part, better to have any Schottky of, say, 1A for series protection...

Also, 220μF electros are rarely used - better with 470μF and half value resistor (if any)..
(470μF/16V are of the same price & size of 220μF/25V..)
