Frequency tripler question.

I've been messing about with this on the breadboard these last few days, and a question occurred to me...

Can this be done with fets? (mos or j)

I mean, use an N-channel and a P-channel, instead of the NPN/PNP arrangement?

Here's the Escobedo schematic;



If possible, any advantages/disadvantages?

Why? You need to raise the parts-cost?

The BJTs do wonderful here. Any FET will need far more drive and much more stuff.

No, no intention of raising cost, or anything like that. Just curious if it would improve something. Somebody way smarter than me has probably already asked and answered this question, but I was curious.

PRR

The BJT saturates with about 1/10th the signal of any FET, and does so more abruptly.

The "tripler" relies on abrupt action.
