I recently picked up a Behringer VT999 for dirt cheap because it looked like a great pedal to start trying my hand on mods. Put the BitMo mod on it as that seemed to be the popular option. Happy with the tonal results but the gain and volume pots are just too sensitive. I can't turn them past maybe 4 on the dial (10 o'clock) before it becomes too loud and distorted. It would be nice to have the lower gain settings to provide a warm clean tube sound rather than slight breakup like it does now and for the volume to simply be less sensitive. The volume pot is 500k and I already put a 220k resistor on the outside leads as I read this would help and it did. I can raise it maybe another hour on the metaphorical clock but would still like less volume. I should note that this pedal has a tube built in. The stock is some low-quality 12AX7 which I replaced with a JJ 12AU7 for more headroom that way. Any advice on achieving the less gain/volume?
