Unusual (to me) Vactrol LCR-0202

Found used in a KRK powered monitor speaker. Thought it was a pcb relay, but no, it's a vactrol.

Seems they also do them in a can that looks like an axial electro cap.


Just mentioning it for the communal knowledge base. They are sold e-bay and elsewhere.
My 0202 isn't faulty, but I bench tested it and it's similar to my hand-rolled vactrols <1k to >1M.

Anybody come across them in any other audio product?

Manufacturer calls them "linear optocoupler" which means searching may not find them if you only enter "vactrol".

As for the KRK, the auto mute/standby is acting all the time, so I think I'll just bypass it. Build quality of pcb's is terrible!
