I get my DC jacks from Tayda...and they're *okay*, but I'd like something a little sturdier.  Any suggestions?

(note: I like the one where the nut is tightened outside the enclosure, if that matters...)

Do you use the one of plastic?
Theres one full of metal, 2.1mm and nut outside the box.
To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.

The metal ones typically connect the barrel/sleeve terminal to the enclosure though, right?  Have to be careful not to short circuit your power supply.

Technical difficulties.  Please stand by.

Are the Taydas any different than the ones most DIYers typically use: http://www.taydaelectronics.com/hardware/dc-power/dc-power-jack-2-1mm-enclosed-frame-with-switch-external.html?

I think I get mine from Small Bear which look the same. They seem plenty sturdy to me. Maybe Steve would know if some are sturdier than others. They all look similar but I'm sure there must be different sources of production.

You're right.
I'm reading datasheets, due the metal parts, they're useless for negative grounded enclosures.

I love these ones - http://www.diyguitarpedals.com.au/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15&products_id=130

Very tiny and requires a smaller hole. Can't use battery as they're unswitched or whatever but batteries are naughty anyway.

I use those same ones, but I found them on eBay for a LOT less.  For example, here is a set of 25 for about $7.

Be aware that some of these too-cheap-to-be-true 2.1mm DC jacks on eBay are a bit on the "snug" side.  YMMV.  :icon_confused:

Ohm's Law - much like Coles Law, but with less cabbage...

Good to know.  The ones I linked have been fine so far - I've probably used 6 or 7.

is it just me or when you bend the legs of these small ones they won't work properly?

Last build was a bit too tight and I had to bend the legs, so it wouldn't touch the pcb.
After that the pedal only worked when it wanted. Ended up making a bigger hole for the switched ones. Never had a problem with those.

its just you ;D...ive bent those lugs , no problems..........................so far.
