Can you help me find the first pedal I ever built?

The very first guitar pedal I built, from a home-made board mounted in an unnecessarily large aluminum box, came from a magazine article in the 1990s.  I believe it was an op amp based distortion.  I remember it had an EQ.

Even though I don't remember the pedal as being particularly good sounding, I'd very much like to go back and revisit that circuit, perhaps rebuild it properly and maybe tweak the design a bit, mostly out of a sense of nostalgia.

Problem is, I can't fully remember where the DIY article came from....
The magazine was probably "Electronics Now" or "Popular Electronics".  I think the project may have been featured on the cover, and if anyone were to mention the name of the project, im pretty sure I'd recognize it immediately.

Longshot, maybe, but I'm hoping someone here can help me dig up the article.

Update: Found it (sort of)!
It was "The Mod Box", published in Electronics Now in May 1997.

Now I just need to find a copy of the article....

It wasn't the circuit/project that Jack Orman and Thomas Henry published in there was it?

EDIT:  You beat me to it by seconds.
