Hi all,

Just after ideas and opinions. I'm thinking of putting 2 effects in a 1590BB. Something like an LPB-1 boost, and either an orange squeezer or a bazz fuss. (or both!)
Apart from individual footswitches, would there be any benefit in putting in a control, say a rotary switch, to choose the order of which effect comes first?

To be honest, I'm pretty dumb regarding the stompbox world and signal paths. I previously used a Quadraverb GT, where everything was already laid out.
Thanks in advance.

I've learned from past adventures that if you add another control, whether it is a pot or a switch, its affect should be just as noticeable as the other functions that you already have.  Otherwise, and I'm projecting here, you'll just disappoint yourself.
Test things out before drilling additional holes on the box.  :icon_wink:

My worst example was adding a pomelo mode to an orange squeezer (a switch that swapped a couple of caps for use with bass).  It became apparent when I was done that I had a switch that made virtually no difference to my ear.

Well an effect order switch could make sense in combination with a 4PDT switch.
Together with a LED A and LED B control it's probably working the way you want it. :icon_mrgreen:

UK-Electronic in Germany is selling a a kit like this for a bargain price:

If you use a toggle, such that the order can be conveyed by the position of the bat handle, rather than an LED, you only need a 3PDT.  I've built several dual loop selectors in 1590BB boxes with a toggle to select order.

Basic Audio used to have a diagram for wiring up a toggle, but took it down, and Photobucket now prevents me from posting images I have stored there.  So pop me a PM with an e-mail address I can send attachments to, and I'll send you the wiring diagram.

Thanks guys.
I'll do some mucking around on the breadboard and see what I can come up with.

MrStab

you might have already come across this resource, but i've used this approach with success:

i used a 4053 chip, which allowed me to power the LED with the control voltage, effectively only using 3 poles

Found the alternative 3PDT switching method which Mark Hammer mentioned.
