I've done the above circuit but as I'm using bc108's so I've had to change to npn. I've switched the capacitor polarity around the circuit seems fine; when I check the voltage at the collector q2 I get 9v, wether I increase r4 up or down

Thanks

Should be all set, mind your 'grounds', in terms of what you connect to your offboard stuff like jacks, LEDs and so on but as long as polar items have been reversed, that's really all.

<when I check the voltage at the collector q2 I get 9v, wether I increase r4 up or down>

It shouldn't happen..

Collector voltage should vary inversely proportional to R4 value...

P.S.
I don't see any R4 on PCB..
(should I consider R3 as Collector resistor..??)

In that case, R4 is out of circuit..

got it sorted must of just been out of circuit you're right, thanks everyone
