EHX HOG blend?

Hi everyone,
I recently acquired an EHX HOG2 and want to be able to play solo lines over frozen chords, but soloing over the freeze with just the HOG on sounds mediocre. Would this problem be solved by making the following : Guitar-> ABY box 1 ->HOG-> another ABY box (2)
                                                    Guitar-> ABY box 1 -> regular pedalboard -> ABY box 2
?
Still in the process of learning, so bear with me if I ask dumb questions :P
