Hi everyone,
I recently got a little bored with building regular overdrives and distortions, so I tried my hand at a delay. I liked it VERY much, the lfo section is super weird. Now I'm itching to do more weird stuff.
What are some weird pedals you'd recommend for building? Synth noises, wacky filters, crazy modulation, etc?
Still in the process of learning, so bear with me if I ask dumb questions :P

To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.

+1 on the clari(not). Stick an LDR to control the delay time and you've got some serious, stomach churning weirdness

All the awesome weirdness you could want in some fantastic designs:

I have a theremin fuzz most of the way built on my workbench currently.

You want the Tremshifter!

Scarlett Johansson uses a Burst Box with her Telecaster.

Kirk Hammet invented the Burst Box.

woah I'm digging the tremshifter and the clarinot! For the clarinot though, I see only layouts with some fuzz with the delay on them, will I be able to get tones like this from those layouts? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJtNPqaNLh4

As I remember, the Clari(not) is a simplified or previous version of the Pitch Pirate.

EBK, that Theremin sounds incredible good and closer in demos

Arcadiator, Theremin and Sentient Machine,Into the Unknown from Parasit Studio are next on my list. They sell PCB's but  also host vero layouts on their site, or link to TagboardFX ones.  It's been mostly fuzzes so far, but I want to give this all a try.

I made one delay, the Deep Blue, which is pretty simple  so I want to try crazier ones next too.

If you are looking for a simple build, the Escobedo PWM is a great circuit. Imagine the Big Muff as a digital Atari synth monstrosity that goes from full throttle fuzz to suddenly sputtering out when input goes below threshold.

The Parasit studio pedals sound amazing, and there is some family resemblance to the Escobedo circuit due to use of CMOS chips in his fuzzes

Strategy

Agree on Clari(not) and PWM.
Also recommend for non-dirt pedals that can inspire creativity:
4ms Noise Swash
4ms Phaseur Fleur
Paia Gator
Madbean Loophole
any of the Lovetone clones aka "Loveclones" - Meatball (Meat Sphere), Ring Stinger (String Ringer) - etc. Advanced builds though
Tim Escobedo - MS20 filter, Bronx Cheer

+1 on Parasitstudios, especially Into the Unknown. Freppo, the mastermind behind them, is an active member of the forum and also a generally cool guy.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but does anyone in the group have/make PCBs for the Echo Bender or Clari(not) cubed deluxe?

The Loophole isn't so much weird as it is lo-fi, if you mean his looper pedal. (I've made one.)

Of the Lovetones, the Ring Stinger is the #1 weirdest. Hands down. The ? Flange With No Name is a close second, but a hell of a lot more useful musically. Meatball doesn't do weird so much as insanely flexible filter. Doppelganger has a bit of weird in it, but not a lot. Big Cheese and Brown Source have some weird, but in a very fuzz/overdrive way.

i didnt stop to commit the name of it to memory, but the other day, someone was trading in a lot of rare analog pedals, and they were testing a fuzz face with a built in theremin oscillator.  the monotone droning of that thing... i swore the pedal was broken and the salesman testing it had no idea what it was supposed to do.
