 :)
Well. The BS manual says 22v DC supply. Nope. It only works from AC as I thought. +-15 is fine now.
270v is okay but falls under load (by nearly 100v !!!) and I need to sink the mosfet. Calc shows max of 30mA from HT but I guess it will be nearer 10mA in use...
At the mo seem to be drawing a lot but it is progressing well.

Lets see if we can get some of the info correct in my understanding. My Blackstar manual says AC PSU but you mention yours is a "Blackstar Copy" ????  Did you buy a clone of some kind or have you made one yourself. The HT psu inside the pedal will boost the 22v AC supply to about 270v, so that should be correct, but you mention you use a +-15 supply so am I correct in thinking you mean a 30v AC supply.

With all the nixie type voltage boosters I have built I have never had to add a heatsink to the Mosfet, even using two 12ax7's

If you built this yourself then a link to the schematic you used would be useful in helping you out.

I look forward to seeing a few pictures of your build .

Agree with Mick... And, I also would like to see what you have!

Here are some Blackstar HT schematics that I have collected over time..

Good page to check out for HV supplies. Translates fairly well.. Some other cool stuff on here also and some crazy @ss Tesla coil shenanigans!  :o

Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

Well ..... :icon_redface:

HT now fine. Valve draws 3mA and works fine.
I downloaded a handbook for the Dual BS box and it says DC psu. Mine is fine with 17v AC (Netgear psu from old routers are perfect)
I found BS schematic (Dual) on web. I have dumped their treble/bass. The BS Bass is just top  cut circa 1960's
Instead I have a Baxandall stage and I have made it into a single channel. mine is also a fair bit smaller.
Now building the main board.
Hardest bit so far was the grille which I made from some tubing and a lot of filing.
Also added an led which flashes with music if  unit is in line (ie my footswitch is now a true bypass)

Blackstar.zip is empty ...

PS  +-15 for opamps and yes, mosfet runs cold now

Thanks for the HV psu Russian link Jim, interesting circuits.

I know that isn't the right post but...anyone knows the value of the FILT2 on the schematics??

This component on my blackstar ht-dist is broken and i want to fix him but i haven't found the value...help me please!  :icon_cry: :icon_cry:

> FILT2 ... component on my blackstar ht-dist is broken

Did it get hit?

It didn't electrically fail by itself. If it burned-up, there's something very wrong further down the line.
