One more! - High-gain, clean blend, baxandall

Hi,

Just sharing a design idea I had while working on my other project. The world NEEDs dirt boxes with clean blends.

It's the same general idea, a buffer then a distortion stage in parallel with a boosted clean signal. All blended and sent to a baxandall tonestack. This time I used a Guvnor/Crunch Box/etc. distortion, with selectable clipping (which does little as is...). One can use two pots or a dual for clean boost/dirt drive controls.

Since I had an extra opamp stage, for now, I tacked a big muff tonestack (did not tune the values yet) on the dirty channel. I was looking for a mid scoop control, but did not find anything I liked.

I haven't breadboarded it yet, but here it is:

You can alter the value of c8 to shape the tone you want to clip.
Then you might not need the bmp.

7 knobs/switch is a lot for a dirt box isn't it?

Hehehe, yeah, it IS a lot of knobs/switches. I like two tone knobs, so 5 is the minimum here (drive, blend, bass, treble, volume) and it is already a lot...

Then I remember AMT boxes, with 12+ knobs for a dirt box, and I feel less bad about it =)

My guitar player, who is my guinea pig, likes a lot of knobs, so he never complains anyway hehehe

The bmp is there just because I had an extra opamp stage. Could use it to set bias... IDK... Maybe use simpler, passive, tone controls and do away with 2 opamps.
