introducing the 'DREAMTIME DELAY'

Hi guys, i finished this up a while back, and never got round to posting .

2x pt2399 for longer, cleaner repeats, with modulation on/off for lush after chorus and warble, tone switch,  true bypass..no tails.

i just wanted a good TB delay for my bench and board really.... :)

Quick question then DA.
So your running two pt2339s in series. Yet you have separate outputs summed with independent level controls mixed before IC3 b.
And this makes the delays longer how please?
I've never tried this.
Thanks for your time.
I'll go and listen to the demo
Thanks for sharing too.

The output of PT1 feeds the input of PT2. Both repeat times are controlled simultaneously and roughly the same via Q1, Q2 and the Time Pot. For example if PT1 has a delay of 150ms, it feeds PT2 this delayed signal, PT2 has the same 150ms delay so it's output is 300ms delayed from the dry signal. There is only one mixer level pot, I believe the other is a feedback pot. In theory, this will allow cleaner delayed signal because of the lower delay times of each chip, you may also be able to reduce the filtering on each PT since you are running them at lower delay times. My 2 cents anyway...

DA- great implementation. I built something similar a few years back but implemented pre and de emphasis so I could lower the filtering even more. Worked a treat and was a really nice sounding delay without all the artifacts the PT chips are known for.

hi rich, what lawrence said...the delay times are 'accumulated' to one big delay. ;D

same thing i did on the abductor but with 4 pt2399's 'accumulated'

all the other delays ive done have had tails,  so i wanted to go TB with this one.

i love the modulation, nice n lush..very alex lifeson... 8) 8) 8)

Wow that sounds sweet.
Such low parts count too.
Great work.
Thanks for that groovenut appreciate the explanation.

Sounds fantastic! Love the idea of running the pt2399 in series, definitely going to have to give this ago. That second Electric Druid Stomp LFO just found it's new home...
Thanks for posting!

Really nice work, Rob!  Thanks for posting it - been wanting to play with PT2399s for a while, this might push me over the edge and motivate me enough to get going!

That was awesome! Perfect timing as well. I just started looking for a delay to build. The search is over.

Lovely Rob, what's the maximum usable delay time?

Ordered a board to keep the others company in my 'to do' pile. Really must order a bunch of box caps....

Yeah I got to have one.  Thanks for sharing.  Any suggestions on taper for repeats and mix?
