A while back i ordered a  "easy face" transistor. It was around 4 or 5 dollars. I found it in a bag in bottom of parts bin but he didnt label it with anything. It a can type and decent size. Any idea what it is called? I built a multi-face and thought id give it a try but wasnt even sure if it were pnp or npn.. Any help?

I just stick them in the Hfe tester sockets of the DMM all different way until something comes up on the readout that looks [about right',
Also there's a way to determine emitter...I've seen it around, it uses the doide check mode of the DMM to find the base emitter diode...
I don't know that you should absolutely count on it but my Ge's [big tophats anyway] have the little tag on the rim of the tophat indicating emitter lead.
