Testing curcuits without pots

Heres a newbie question...

I am breadboarding some curcuits just for testing but I don't have the right pots.  Is there a way I can wire it up with just resistors for testing purposes?

say you wanted a 100k set in the middle...two 50k seriesed would emulate this...the inbetweens can be found [say 20k/80k] by adding/subtracting as long as the two seriesed R's add up to about 100k
